Births

The new national restrictions which to came into force from 5 January 2021, do not affect the requirements for registering a Birth. We are currently taking birth registration appointments. These are for babies born within Cornwall. The appointments can take place at the following offices:

  • Helston
  • Camborne
  • Truro
  • St Austell
  • Liskeard
  • Bodmin 
  • Newquay
  • Bude 
  • Penzance 

Falmouth, Launceston and Saltash remain closed.

Making an Appointment

To make an appointment to register a birth, please contact the Registration Information Service on 0300 1234 181 (Monday to Friday 8:30am to 6:00pm).

  • Please note that customers should wear a face covering when attending an appointment (unless exempted).
  • Birth declaration appointments for babies born outside of Cornwall are being registered. Or, you could contact the registration service that covers the area where your baby was born. You may register the birth directly with them.
  • There are arrangements in place so that you can make a claim for child benefit or universal credit before registering the birth of your baby.
