Public Liability (PL)
Public Liability insurance will indemnify the Council, its employees, school governors, elected members and volunteers engaging with the Council against claims from members of the public who have suffered loss, damage or injury due to the negligence of the Council.
There is no automatic right to compensation and claims will only be settled where the Council could be held legally liable.
There is no geographical restriction on the policy.
Important:
If a formal letter of claim from a firm of solicitors is received the letter should be forwarded on to Adam Williams, Senior Insurance Officer, Dalvenie House, New County Hall, Treyew Road, Truro, Cornwall, TR1 3AY straight away. Please do not write back to the solicitors as the insurance team will deal with the claim in compliance with legal protocols.
