Acoustic testing

ESconsult, part of the Planning and Enterprise Service, provides a range of consultancy services including acoustic testing.

Part E of the Building Regulations requires that new homes are designed and constructed to provide reasonable resistance to the passage of sound and that a sample of dwellings on every new development is tested.

ESconsult has teamed up with LABC Acoustics to provide customers with high quality acoustic services that are supported by an industry leading UKAS Accredited Laboratory.

ESconsult can also arrange for all these services to be delivered nationally through LABC Acoustics.

Acoustic testing on site will be carried out locally by ESconsult and the data will then be analysed by LABC Acoustics who will provide the customer with a UKAS accredited professional report.

The acoustic services are designed to offer all aspects of the building industry with advice concerning noise and vibration at all stages of development from early planning stage, technical design, pre-completion testing and commissioning.

The acoustic services can start at pre-planning stage with up front advice and survey services that can assist the developer to overcome Planning conditions by providing noise impact assessments to PPG24 and BS4142 and vibration impact surveys to BS6472 and BS7385.

Modern sustainability criteria such as Code for Sustainable Homes and BREEAM for both domestic and non-domestic developments now features high credit ratings for sound insulation, privacy and internal and external noise design.

LABC Acoustics designs and tests to these sustainability requirements for all types of projects using:

  • HTM 08-01 Acoustics in Healthcare and
  • The Building Regulations 2010: Approved Document E: Resistance to the Passage of Sound.
