Product Recalls

From time to time companies may have to recall a product they have produced. There could be a number of reasons for this from incorrect labelling information to safety concerns after detected faults.

You can search for electrical product recalls on the Electrical Safety First website. The database contains electrical recalls from 2007.

The Chartered Trading Standards Institute also have a general product recalls webpage which includes information on food, electrical, toys and gas appliances recalls.

Avoid overloading sockets and risk of fire by using this calculator, although there is space to plug in four appliances, this does not mean it is always safe to do so.

Unless products are registered, it is very difficult to track them down.  The ‘Register My Appliance’ website has a simple to follow process for all electrical appliances. You only need the brand name, model, serial number and purchase date. The manufacturer will only contact you in the event of a recall, your details will not be used for marketing.
