Staff training night (On-Call Firefighters):
Thursday 6.30pm - 8.30pm

Falmouth Community Fire Station is a wholetime staffed station, with 24hr emergency response being provided by four watches, (Black, Blue, Red and White), which is complimented with an on-call crew.

We welcome applications from anyone interested in becoming an on-call firefighter. All shortlisted applicants will be invited to an assessment interview (regardless of whether there is a vacancy at the station or not). Suitable applicants will be invited to the (twice yearly) assessment centres and if successful they will be placed in the Talent Pool to be selected for progression to the Approved to Ride Course as and when an appropriate vacancy at their Fire Station arises

For more information and to apply to become an on-call firefighter, please visit our Service Careers recruitment pages and/or call our Resourcing Team on 01872 323800.

View our community fire and rescue service events page for a full list of activities taking place this year across the county.

Find out how often Falmouth on-call firefighters are called out to assist the Fire and Rescue Service:

Falmouth's firefighters continue to provide 'Free Home Fire Safety' visits giving domestic fire safety advice at your doorstep. This process also offers the free installation and maintenance of smoke alarms to people that do not have one.

Register for a free home fire safety check online or for more information about them, visit the fire safety page.

Free educational resource

Falmouth Community Fire Station have a unique resource called early learning fire safety (elfs), which is available to borrow free of charge by all early years establishments (including: nurseries, pre-schools, child minder's). You can find out more information by visiting our page on elfs and how to borrow the resource from a community fire station in Cornwall.

The Station responds to national campaigns by visiting events, clubs and schools.  They regularly host open days and hold an annual firework display, which takes place each year. The display raises money for local charities plus awareness at the event on fire safety issues.

For upcoming events, view the page on community fire and rescue service events

Each watch works on initiatives such as shore side cleanups, road traffic collision awareness programmes for teenagers, working alongside the RNLI, talking with student groups on and off campus and open days for all.

If you would like to enquire about arranging a visit for your playgroup or other relevant organisation, please email or telephone 0300 1234 232.

The Station provides fire and rescue cover to Falmouth, however the operational support vehicle is used all over the county, which is utilised in flooding or the control of Firefighters at large incidents.

In addition to this, Falmouth fire appliances provide a first response cover to a number of towns and villages including:

Penryn, Mylor, Flushing, Constantine, Mawnan Smith, Budock Water, Mabe, Ponsanooth, Perranwell Station, Perranarworthal, Stithians.

There are a number of special risks in the Falmouth and Penryn area with the largest being the Docks, which present numerous hazards and risks. There are a large number of hotels and residences for tourist accommodation, which provide an increased risk particularly in the summer season; Falmouth becomes the largest tourist destination on the south coast of Cornwall.

In addition to the above, there are also many manufacturing premises in the area which pose a risk; these are mainly located in the industrial parks in and around Falmouth and Penryn.  Another major risk that we provide an operational response to, is the combined University of Cornwall (that is situated in Penryn) and the Falmouth College of Arts.
