The Beaumont Society forms an association of those who crossdress, are transvestite or who are transsexual and, through this association, to provide a means of help and communication between members, in order to reduce emotional stress, eliminate the guilt and so aid better understanding of them by their families and friends.

Depend is a voluntary organisation whose aim is to provide support, advice and information for anyone who knows, or is related to, a transsexual person in the UK.

Gires provides information for trans people, their families and the professionals who care for them.

Mermaids is a support group for gender variant children and teenagers, and their families.

In support of this one aim, we also intend to:

  • Offer support to parents, families, carers and others.
  • Raise awareness about gender issues amongst professionals (e.g. teachers, doctors, social services etc) and the general public
  • Campaign for the recognition of this issue and an increase in professional services

Press for Change has been the key lobbying and legal support organisation for Trans people in the UK. It is primarily a voluntary organisation, managed by the Vice-Presidents and key volunteers, alongside occasional part time workers.

Press for Change provides legal advice, training and research to trans people, their representatives, and public and private bodies. PFC has regularly worked with Government on the Employment regulations 1999, the Working Group 2000, the Gender Recognition Act 2004, and the proposed Equality Act 2010.
