Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise Sector

Across Cornwall, voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations play a huge role in improving the lives of residents. The last comprehensive review of Cornwall's voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector, which took place in 2013, found that it included 9% of Cornwall's total workforce (in comparison with 3% nationally) and that it comprised c13% of our economy (excluding the value of volunteering). Cornwall also has one of the highest volunteering rates in the UK. Over a third of people give volunteer time, worth around half a billion pounds.

Cornwall Council wants to work with, support and celebrate Cornwall's vital VCSE sector. As all parts of the statutory and voluntary sectors are currently facing funding pressures, it is more important than ever that we work together. .

To ensure we both hear what the VCSE sector has to say to us and empower the work that they do, Cornwall Council has a strategic partnership with Cornwall Voluntary Sector Forum (VSF).

You can read more about the sector and our work with VSF in our recent publication Council's partnership with VCSE sector.
