Now Cornwall Council has accepted a bid from the Cornwall Heritage Trust. This 35 year old charity protects some of the most notable heritage sites in Cornwall, including Treffry Viaduct, Castle an Dinas and Sancreed Beacon. It also provides grants to other heritage organisations and has an education programme.

It intends to transform 2 to 4 Clinton Road into a cultural and heritage hub, where organisations can meet and hold events and functions, and where the Trust can have a more visible presence within the community. The acquisition will be assisted by Heritage Funding which the Trust is obtaining direct.

Cornwall Council’s Leader Julian German, local Redruth Members and the Town Council all support the disposal and consider that the Trust’s proposed use will be sustainable and receive local support.

The building has also recently been awarded Grade II Listing by English Heritage.

The Library service has been relocated and will now be at Redruth Civic Centre, Alma Place, Redruth, TR15 2AT. Its re-opening date is postponed until further notice due to Coronavirus.
