Childcare Sufficiency Assessment
Local Authorities have a duty to secure sufficient childcare in their area, including for:
- working families, or parents who are studying / training
- families with children who are entitled to free early years education places
- families who need out of hours or holiday childcare
- families with children with special educational needs or disabilities
Local Authorities must also work to ensure that childcare provision is high quality, affordable and accessible. They also have a duty to report annually on how they are meeting their sufficiency duties. This is usually called the Childcare Sufficiency Assessment.
Cornwall Childcare Survey 2020
During 2020 we asked for your experiences and needs in relation to childcare in Cornwall. We will use the information you gave us to inform our Childcare Sufficiency Assessment. This will help us make sure there are enough high-quality childcare places at the times and in the places that you, and other families, need them.
The results will be published in 2021.
Education and Early Years Sufficiency Strategy
Our strategy sets out the challenges we face meeting the need and demand for education provision for children and young people. It also sets out how we will meet this need through high quality early years and education places. Demand for places includes early years to secondary, as well as access to specialist and alternative provision.
The Strategy will help to achieve the priorities set out in the Education Strategy for Cornwall. It ensures access to world class education, for all children, young people and families in Cornwall. It helps them to achieve the best possible outcomes.
