Kickstart Scheme
Kickstart is part of the government’s Plan for Jobs. It aims to create hundreds and thousands of new, fully funded jobs across England, Scotland and Wales. The first placements are likely to be available from November.
If you are an employer looking to create job placements for young people, you could use the Kickstart Scheme. The Scheme allows you to create new 6 month job placements for young people in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. The young person needs to be:
- aged 16-24
- currently on Universal Credit
- and at risk of long-term unemployment.
The Education Business Partnership is one of four Gateway Organisations in Cornwall for the scheme. This means that we will:
- gather information from you about the job placements you’d like to offer
- use this information to submit an online application on behalf of a group of employers
- pass on the relevant payments made by the Department of Work and Pensions to you (for example the young person’s salary)
