Out of hours - Stray dogs

I have found a dog

If you've found a stray dog and are unable to contact the owner direct, please call 0300 1234 212 and we will arrange for someone to collect the dog.  You could also take a dog to a local vet who would scan for a microchip.

Dogs found outside of normal hours

If you find a stray dog outside normal working hours, we operate collection only service from 5pm-10pm on weekdays, and 9am-10pm during weekends and bank holidays.

If you've lost your dog please call 0300 1234 212 and we will check if your dog has been collected.  All dogs collected are held in kennels that are either licensed or to a licensable standard.

Out of hours returns

The out of hours returns service runs from 10am to 4pm Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays.

To release your dog out of hours:

  1. Call the dog warden on 0300 1234 212 to arrange the release and they will tell you the amount owed
  2. Pay online using the dog release form
  3. Take the payment receipt that you are emailed with you to meet the dog warden to collect your dog

You do not have to use this optional service, and can chose to wait until the next working day and not pay the additional costs (although you may incur additional kennelling costs).

Should your dog be on medication or have medical needs, please advise the call centre as they will arrange for the dog to be taken to a vets - although this charge will be passed on to yourself.

Dogs are not released without full payment of fees - please see the stray dog page for details of fees.
