St Austell Bay Resilient Regeneration (StARR) Project

The St Austell Bay Resilient Regeneration (StARR) project aims to reduce flood risk to communities living and working in the St Austell Bay area, particularly in Par and St Blazey. The proposed scheme will bring additional benefits to the area by encouraging investment and making St Austell Bay a better place to work, live and play.

These organisations are working in partnership to develop the StARR project:

  • Cornwall Council
  • The Environment Agency
  • The Westcountry Rivers Trust
  • The University of Exeter
  • South West Water

The project is receiving up to £7.8m of funding from the England European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) as part of the European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme 2014-2020.  Additional funding is being provided by a variety of sources including DEFRA Growth funds, Flood Defence Grant in Aid, South West Water and Cornwall Council.

We met with you in June 2019 and shared information about the progress of the StARR project and we were planning another event this summer. The coronavirus has meant that we are unable to do this safely, so instead we've added everything you need to know about StARR on Cornwall Council's Let's Talk Cornwall website.

As well as keeping you up to date on StARR, we'd love to hear your ideas and feedback on what else you and your community could do to make Par and St Blazey even more resilient against flooding.
