Fowey Parish Neighbourhood Development Plan
Fowey Town Council has withdrawn from the Castledore Neighbourhood Development Plan. For this reason, Fowey Town Council agreed to develop a Neighbourhood Plan for the Fowey parish. This was agreed at a Town Council Meeting held on 19 November 2014. This webpage provides you with information on the Fowey Parish Neighbourhood Development Plan.
Neighbourhood Plan Adoption
Fowey Parish Neighbourhood Development Plan is now formally made and can be used from 11 March 2020, as part of the development plan in development management decisions in Fowey Neighbourhood Plan Area. The adopted neighbourhood plan, report and decision notice is available to download below:

Neighbourhood Plan Referendum
The Fowey NDP referendum was held on 27 February 2020. The plan was successful at referendum and the result was:
- Number cast in favour of a 'Yes': 570
- Number cast in favour of a 'No': 63

Neighbourhood Plan Examination
The Fowey Parish Neighbourhood Plan has been successful at examination. The independent examiner appointed was Deborah McCann.The documents were sent to the examiner on 7 May 2019 and on the 25 September 2019 the examination report was sent to Cornwall Council and Fowey Town Council. Plan Proposal Submitted
Fowey Town Council submitted their plan proposal to Cornwall Council for their designated Neighbourhood Development Plan Area on 23 January 2019, in accordance with the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012 (as amended).
Cornwall Council consulted residents and other interested stakeholders on the plan for the Fowey Parish area. The Consultation ran for six weeks between Thursday 7 March until 18 April 2019. You can view the representations recieved during the consultation through the online planning register using planning number PA19/00009/NDP.
The plan proposal included a copy of a map and statement which identifies the area to which the proposed Neighbourhood Development Plan relates; a consultation statement with appendices; the proposed Neighbourhood Development Plan and a statement explaining how the proposed Neighbourhood Development Plan meets the requirements of paragraph 8 of Schedule 4B to the 1990 Act (the Basic Conditions Statement).
Hard copies of the documents were available to view at the following locations during the consultation:
- Fowey Library, Caffa Mill House, 2 Passage Lane, Fowey, PL23 1JS
- Fowey River Practice, Rawlings Lane PL23 1 DT; and
- Squires Field Community Centre, Langurtho Road, Fowey PL23 1EQ

Neighbourhood Area Designation
Fowey Town Council submitted an application and map to designation their Neighbourhood Area. This was submitted on 8th December 2014. Cornwall Council consulted residents and other interested stakeholders on the designation. The consultation ran between 7 January and 18 February 2015. Copies of the application letter and statement were made available to view during the six week consultation period. The statement explains how the Town Council and Neighbourhood Area met the conditions of Section 61G(2) of the Town And Country Planning Act 1990.
