Mevagissey Neighbourhood Development Plan

Mevagissey Parish Neighbourhood Development plan is now formally made and can be used from 9 July 2018. This is as part of the development plan in development management decisions in the Mevagissey Neighbourhood Plan Area. The adopted neighbourhood plan, report and decision notice are available to download below:

The Mevagissey NDP Referendum was held on 14 June 2018. The plan was successful at referendum and the result was:

  • Number cast in favour of a 'Yes': 516
  • Number cast in favour of a 'No': 60

The Mevagissey Parish Neighbourhood Development Plan was submitted for examination on 13th November 2017. The independent examiner appointed to carry out the examination is Deborah McCann.

An initial assessment of the neighbourhood plan, background evidence and representations was completed. Following this, the examiner raised a number of questions. Additional information was also requested, as below:

On 14th February 2018, Cornwall Council received the Examiner's report on the Mevagissey Neighbourhood Development Plan. The Examiner's report concludes that subject to the modifications in the report, the Plan should proceed to referendum. The examination report and amended Neighbourhood Plan is available to view below:

Cornwall Council consulted residents and other interested stakeholders on the plan proposal for the Mevagissey area. The consultation ran from 27th September to 8th November 2017.

The plan proposal included:

  • a copy of a map and statement which identifies the area to which the proposed Neighbourhood Development Plan relates
  • a consultation statement
  • the proposed Neighbourhood Development Plan and
  • a statement explaining how the proposed Neighbourhood Development Plan meets the requirements of paragraph 8 of Schedule 4B to the 1990 Act (the Basic Conditions Statement)

Copies of the documents were available to view using the online planning register. (Planning number PA17/00020/NDP). Hard copies were also available to view at:

  • Mevagissey Activity Centre
  • The Kings Arms Mevagissey and
  • St Austell One Stop Shop

Mevagissey Parish Council submitted the Neighbourhood Area Designation application and map. They submitted these on 22 January 2014. Cornwall Council consulted residents and other interested stakeholders on the designation. The consultation took place between 29 January and 12 March 2014.  Consultation documents were made available to view from St Austell One Stop Shop during this six week period. These documents included:

  • copies of the application letter
  • the designation map
  • a statement that explains how the Parish Council and Neighbourhood Area met the required conditions. These conditions were of Section 61G(2) of the Town And Country Planning Act 1990
