Neighbourhood Development Plans Adopted
38 Neighbourhood Development Plans (NDPs) have been made in Cornwall. These form part of the development plan for Cornwall. They are often referred to as 'adopted plans'.
Development Management use NDP policies in assessing and determining planning applications. Specific NDPs are used for planning applications located within specific plan areas. They are used in combination with national and local strategic policies.
Under the Neighbourhood Planning Act 2017, a provision came into force on 19th July 2017. This resulted in changes to Section 38 of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act (2004). This means that once a Neighbourhood Plan has been successful at referendum, it will automatically form part of the development plan. That is unless the Council specifically makes a decision not to adopt it.
