CIL Fund

The first round of the CIL Fund has now closed. Decisions from the first round will be announced by the end of January.

Community groups and not-for-profit organisations were invited to apply for funding between £20,000 and £100,000. The money awarded from the CIL Fund is for infrastructure projects that will help communities achieve low carbon living.

The projects must include

  • provision
  • improvement
  • replacement
  • operation, or
  • maintenance

of infrastructure to support development.

This can include, but is not limited to:

  • transport facilities
  • flood defences
  • play areas
  • open spaces
  • parks and green spaces
  • cultural and sports facilities
  • healthcare facilities
  • academies and free schools
  • district heating schemes
  • police stations and other community safety facilities

We also welcomed bids for infrastructure projects that will help communities recover from the impact of COVID-19.

Applicants may need to consider State Aid liability for the receipt of CIL funding. Please see the Government guidance on State Aid for further information.
