Statement of Community Involvement
Adopted Statement of Community Involvement
The Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 requires the local planning authority to prepare a 'Statement of Community Involvement' (SCI). Planning affects everyone in our community, however, most people only get involved in planning when it directly affects them. The SCI explains how the Council will involve local communities, businesses and other interested parties when we prepare our planning policies and determine planning applications. The current SCI was adopted in July 2018.
You can download the Adopted SCI.
As a result of the current COVID-19 Crisis we are making some temporary amendments to the requirements set out in the adopted SCI. These are to ensure the health of our communities, residents and staff. The changes are set out in this important notice and also included in the front of the adopted SCI.
The adoption statement sets out when the SCI was adopted and where it can be viewed.
The adoption of the SCI follows consultation on a draft undertaken in 2017/18. The consultation statement sets out the representations received and the amendments to the SCI.
Preparing the Statement of Community Involvement
The Council published the draft SCI for public consultation between 27th November 2017 and 22nd January 2018. Thank you to all those who provided comments.
