We want to bring together our resources to secure:

  • Increased investment in the historic environment
  • Improved data to support management decisions
  • A reduction in heritage assets at risk
  • A growth in the skills base of the sector; and
  • Growth in the benefits that the historic environment delivers

We are committed to working within the following Conservation Principles:

  • The historic environment is a shared resource
  • Everyone should be able to participate in sustaining the historic environment
  • Understanding the significance of places is vital
  • Significant places should be managed to sustain their values
  • Decisions about change must be reasonable, transparent and consistent
  • Documenting and learning from decisions is essential

Heritage Kernow meets at two levels

The Heritage Kernow Board brings together strategic leaders from the key bodies with responsibility for the management and curation of the historic environment of Cornwall. Its terms of reference are available to view as are the agenda and minutes for its Board meetings.

The Heritage Kernow Forum meets twice a year and is open to anyone with an interest in the historic environment of Cornwall.  It is the main forum for consultation between the Board and the public. Meeting papers and future dates will be available to the public on the Heritage Kernow Fourm page.

The Heritage Kernow Board is responsible for overseeing delivery of the parts of the Heritage section of the Cornwall Deal relating to the historic environment.  The Heritage Deal work programme, including links to updates on our main projects will be available once complete.
