Redruth Heritage Economic Regeneration Scheme

The Redruth Heritage Economic Regeneration Scheme (HERS) was a property based grants scheme that targeted and engaged property owners/leaseholders in the improvement of historic property in the Redruth Town Centre Conservation Area.

The scheme was heritage based and had a strong economic theme in order to secure long term sustainable benefits. The aims of the scheme were achieved by awarding targeted grants for quality building repairs (using local materials and tradesmen and traditional methods where possible), reinstatement of architectural detailing and bringing vacant buildings and underused floor-space back into use.

The scheme linked closely to the Redruth Town Centre Improvements which has seen improvements to key areas of the public realm that will have an influence on private sector investment decisions and public pride. This Redruth HERS was a hugely successful scheme, providing grant aid to 35 properties in the town.

The Redruth HERS was administered by Kerrier District Council and funded by Objective One (ERDF), English Heritage, Neighbourhood Renewal Fund, Kerrier District Council, Cornwall Council and Redruth Town Council. The scheme finished in July 2008 and no grants from this source of funding are available for this area now.
