Gwyn Haslock

A well-known celebrity on the Cornish surfing scene, Gwyn was Britain’s first competitive female surfing champion and has been surfing since her father taught her in the early 1960s.

When she started surfing, she was one of the only women competing and had to enter the men's categories.

Five decades later, and at the age of 73, Gwyn still surfs every day and has starred in everything from BUPA adverts to TV programmes and the World Bellyboard Championships.

Her enthusiasm for the sea inspires other generations to have a go and enjoy the Cornish seaside - no matter what their age!
