Steve La Borde

Having spent a lifetime playing football and subsequently running, Steve entered the world of triathlons and in his 60th year competed in his age category for Team GB in the world triathlon championships. Continuing with his success and having been inspired by the chance to represent Team GB, Steve will represent them once again in Russia this year.

For people wishing to follow in his footsteps, Steve’s main advice for those looking to try a new sport or physical activity would be not to think about it too much.

“Do something, or you never will. Whatever you do don’t compare your performance with others. You are doing it for your own achievements. Being active is healthy and inspires you to become healthier. It doesn’t take long and you soon appreciate things like better food, less alcohol and a broader mind.

Eating healthy and being active is important. Unfortunately not all people can be as active as others so we have to find other means of longevity. Diet and an active mind are both important. Socialising also makes us healthier.”
