2013 Director of Public Health's Annual Report

This report looks at a number of key issues for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. The main chapters are:

  • Overview – including an introduction from the Director of Public Health and an analysis of key statistics trends affecting our local population such as age profile, life expectancy, healthy life expectancy and deprivation
  • Improving outcomes around major health conditions – including healthy ageing, diabetes, musculoskeletal health and cardiovascular disease
  • The power of prevention – including a look at the Food and Cornwall programme to prevent food poverty and create food wealth and the Together for Families programme designed to improve outcomes for families with complex needs
  • Everyday public health – including looking at the current Health and Wellbeing Strategies for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly and a focus on improving outcomes for children
  • Back to the future – including a focus on different models for future working such as sustainability, maximising the potential for prevention and effective community engagement and development.
  • Vital statistics – a detailed breakdown of key indicators of health and wellbeing in our local population.
