Cornwall Home Solutions Covid 19 Information and Guidance

Since the Covid19 outbreak even more older people are spending nearly all their time at home.

As most accidents occur at home it is vitally important that people have access to information that can enable them to live safely and well.

Care and Repair England have updated their Living Safely and Well at Home brochure. This offers practical hints and tips about how to make the home safer.

Many families, friends and volunteers are concerned about the safety of their older relatives and neighbours. This new self-trainer can help people spot possible housing hazards and find practical help.

Keeping Well at Home is a new comprehensive coronavirus related guide. It includes useful information for older people about:

  • shielding
  • mental health
  • home exercise
  • diet

Criminals are exploiting fears about COVID-19 to prey on members of the public.  They are particularly targeting older and vulnerable people who are isolated from family and friends. National Trading Standards is warning people to remain vigilant. This is following a rise in coronavirus-related scams. Further information is available from the Friends Against Scams website.

New guidance is available for anyone who cares, unpaid, for a friend or family member who cannot cope without their support. This may be because they have:

  • a lifelong condition
  • illness
  • disability
  • serious injury
  • mental health condition
  • an addiction
