The Q Fund
The Sir Arthur Quiller Couch Memorial Fund was set up as a charitable trust in 1945.
You can apply for Grants of between £50 to £500 towards local research work in literary or allied subjects. Grants are for:
- support travelling
- get transcripts
- support other expenses in conducting research
Or, they may contribute to production costs, including:
- editing
- design
- printing
The Q Fund wants to improve diversity, excellence and creativity in Cornish literature.
Cornwall Council is the Trustee for the fund. The Council holds the Trust Fund on behalf of a small Committee which is the award-making body. Recent grants have supported projects with a wide range of subject matter. The fund has supported 'Albert Reuss in Mousehole - the Artist as Refugee'. It funded research into 'A History of Guise Dancing' and 'Aunt Branwell and the Bronte Legacy'.
Sir Arthur Quiller Couch's nickname was 'Q'. There is a wealth of information about his life and work on the Arthur Quiller Couch website.
How to apply for a Q Fund Grant
The Committee usually awards grants twice a year in May and November. The Fund is open for applications and the next deadline is now 1st May 2021. It's easy to apply, download the application form. Please apply via email as we are currently unable to accept applications sent by post.
