Public Service Media for Cornwall

Cornwall's national minority status and the Cornish language is recognised by the EU and the UK government but it is the only national minority and only indigenous language in the UK without its own media service and is under represented by the existing public service broadcasters. Research by Falmouth University in 2019 explored the development models for public service broadcasters in other parts of the UK and abroad and assesses the existing digital media capacity and infrastructure in Cornwall.

A Cornish public service broadcaster (PSB) would play a significant part in the talent supply chain and the further development of Cornwall's fast growing creative economy. It would be an opportunity to explore using digital platforms to create a new, rural-based model for commissioning and broadcasting, and to create a distinctive voice with appeal well beyond Cornwall.
