St Austell Library is managed by St Austell Town Council, supported by Cornwall Council. 

St Austell Library will not be charging for overdue loans from 19 January 2021 until 31 March 2021.

St Austell Town Council is delighted to announce that St Austell Library is continuing to offer a “click and collect” service. This allows customers to make reservations online. They can then pick up their requests when contacted that they are available for collection. Books can also be returned during these times.

In order to ensure that the library is Covid19 safe for the public and staff, this service will operate out of the foyer only.  The area will be cleaned regularly with clear instructions on how to pick up and drop off the books. There will be plenty of signage both inside and outside of the library to help keep everybody safe.

Collection times for reserved items are, Monday to Friday are:

  • 9.00am to 12:30pm (Surname A-L)  
  • 1:00pm to 4.30pm (Surname M-Z)

* You may return books anytime during these times regardless of your surname.

Flexibility around these hours can be arranged for customers experiencing difficulty. Please email or call 0300 1234 111. Please remember to check your accounts regularly to renew any items to avoid incurring any late charges.

St Austell Library now has one public access computer available for 45 minutes per person. It is available between 9.00am and 4.00pm. Booking is preferred to avoid disappointment. To book, please contact or call 0300 1234 111 and ask to speak to St Austell Library.

All we need is your child’s library card number and we will even include some colouring sheets and paper activities to keep your young ones busy!

  • On-road parking bay at the front of the library and two disabled spaces in the staff car park at the side of the library. There is also a Pay and Display car park at Polkyth, a couple of hundred yards away.

  • National Concessionary bus pass applications are quick and easy to apply for online. 
  • Recycling bags and boxes can be ordered direct. Please use our request recycling equipment / recycling containment online form.
  • Payments for Council services such as Council Tax or Business Rates cannot be taken at this location. However there are a range of PayPoint and Post Office sites that accept both cash and card payments. Most Post Offices still accept cheques at no extra cost.  Your account will be updated overnight.
