Ridgegrove Path and Parkland

The proposed shared-use path and cycleway starts at Ridgegrove Lane. It winds down through open countryside and follows the River Kensey upstream. It then skirts the edge of the floodplain before bridging the river at the end of the Co-op car park.  It ends on the Newport Industrial Estate close to the A388. We have submitted a map of the full route as part of our planning application.

The path will give pedestrians and cyclists the option of a safe and pleasant countryside route. It will cross the River Kensey and avoid the narrow paths alongside the busy A388 /Dutson Road.

The 3m wide path will be surfaced and sensitively lit with gradients limited to improve accessibility for all.

The Council has purchased land alongside the route to create public open space.  Improvements will include patches of wild flowers, nectar-rich plants, ponds and trees. This will create habitats to attract insects and encourage people to enjoy nature. The details of the improvements are shown in the making space for nature plan.

More information about the nature improvements for the project can be found at www.cornwall.gov.uk/spacefornature
