St Thomas' Bridge

The existing St Thomas' bridge is a pinch point on the A388.  HGVs cannot pass each other at this point. This has resulted in traffic queues and air pollution.

The new steel beam bridge is designed to sit quietly in the landscape close to the Grade I medieval listed packhorse bridge and amenity island.

We also plan to improve the area by:

  • removing unnecessary signs
  • adding planting
  • improving access to the amenity island
  • adding seating and a new information board

You can read more about the scheme in the Design and Access Statement. This is one of the documents we submitted with the planning application.
